About
Positive Energy
Positive Energy is an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) provider for smart microgrids powered by battery energy storage systems using second-life EV batteries, accelerating decarbonization while saving money.

Who we are
We are a mission-driven team of engineers, operators, and entrepreneurs focused on solving real-world energy challenges.
Driven by the responsibility to build a cleaner and more resilient future for the next generations, we develop practical solutions that unlock energy capacity and accelerate decarbonization, where it matters most.
The problem
we solve
Access to energy is no longer just about generation, it's about capacity.
Across municipal, industrial, and remote environments, grid constraints, rising demand, and infrastructure limitations are slowing development, increasing costs, and delaying electrification.
Our approach
Positive Energy addresses this challenge by combining second-life battery storage, intelligent energy management, and distributed energy integration, delivering right-sized systems that unlock capacity, support microgrid deployment, and adapt to real-world operational needs.
Market timing
As electrification accelerates, energy demand is growing faster than grid capacity can expand. At the same time, large volumes of EV batteries are reaching end-of-life.
Positive Energy sits at the intersection of these two trends, transforming battery waste into a strategic energy solution that delivers both economic and environmental value.
Meet the team

Essam Ibrahim
CEO, Founder
Essam Ibrahim is a mechanical engineer and serial entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in industrial engineering, energy systems, and international business development. Throughout his career, he has built and scaled engineering-focused companies across North America and the Middle East, delivering complex industrial and infrastructure projects.
At Positive Energy, Essam leads the company's mission to unlock energy capacity and accelerate the transition to smart, decentralized energy systems. His work focuses on transforming second-life electric vehicle batteries into high-value energy storage solutions that enable practical, scalable microgrid deployment.
He is driven to build a lasting legacy by creating a cleaner, more resilient energy future for his children and the next generation.

Nathan Saint-Hilaire
Product Design Lead
A graduate in electrical engineering, Nathan focuses his work on the energy transition and battery storage. For two years, he worked in the heavy-duty electric vehicle sector, where he designed and integrated battery systems for trucks. This experience brought him face to face with a major challenge: these batteries retain significant value well beyond their first life.
His approach today is focused on recovering these batteries before end of life, giving them a second use rather than treating them as waste. He sees this as both a pragmatic and sustainable response: preserving critical resources, reducing environmental impact, and supporting a more circular energy model.

Xavier Lepage
Xavier Lepage is a mechanical engineering graduate specializing in product development and mechanical systems integration for the energy transition. His work focuses on the mechanical design, assembly, and integration of battery systems, with a strong emphasis on user safety. He is committed to advancing greener technologies that make a lasting impact.
